A Magnificent Family Home
Our clients approached us, along with three other builders to provide them with a quote for their project direct from architectural drawings. We were able to introduce many ideas to help save money – such as re-using roof tiles, salvaging roof joists for use in the linked porch and replacing the painted aluminium gutters with black PVC, which kept the project on budget.
We began this project in the Summer of 2014, a great time for building – long warm days – very conducive to rapid progress!
Our clients existing single storey extension was extended and the openings re-located to suit the new bi-fold doors and also to link the extension from the utility room to the kitchen. This link enables the family to bypass the living areas whilst using the utility and kitchen.
A second floor was constructed above the now, larger kitchen and included Cruckshank steel work to enable the bedroom ceilings to be vaulted. The vaulted ceilings were insulated, quite a tricky job as each individual panel had to be cut to size.
Throughout the duration of the project we liaised directly with building control ensuring that the job went smoothly. Even though we were working to plans we consulted our clients on a regular basis to discuss any modifications that may be needed.
The final result is a magnificent family home sympathetically extended to blend with the existing brick work and lead windows.
